Easy Banana Smoothie Recipe

There is nothing more refreshing than an ice cold smoothie and even if you’re not a huge fan of Bananas, this recipe will blow your mind!!

At Fit Mission we go Bananas for Bananas!! Why you ask? Because bananas are packed with nutrients and great for giving you a hit of long lasting energy.

Bananas have the good stuff your body needs including; fiber, antioxidants, Magnesium and copper. Bananas are also high in; Potassium which helps with muscle contraction and can assist to regulate blood pressure; Vitamin C to help with iron absorption and gives a boost to your immune system; and Vitamin B6 to support brain function.

Bananas are a great low GI carbohydrate and provide a slow release of energy over a longer period of time. They also contain a compound called tryptophan, an amino acid which your body converts into serotonin, a neurotransmitter that helps regulate mood and promotes feelings of happiness and well-being.

Bananas are good mood food! I think we could all use a little more of that.

And…. Because bananas are a high in Fibre, they are good for digestion and help to keep your digestive system running smoothly.

Did you know? Bananas are technically berries! They grow on large herbaceous flowering plants and are classified as berries because they have seeds encased in fleshy fruit. And… there are over 1,000 different varieties of bananas grown around the world.

This recipe serves one person, but you can easily double or triple the ingredients to make more. You can also experiment with different ingredients if you have allergies or intolerances.

 

Easy Banana Smoothie Recipe

Ingredients:

1 ripe banana
1 cup plain Greek yogurt
1/2 cup almond milk
1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup ice cubes

How to Make:
1. Peel the banana and break it into smaller pieces.
2. Add the banana, Greek yogurt, almond milk, honey or maple syrup, and vanilla extract to a blender.
3. Blend the ingredients on high speed until smooth.
4. Add the ice cubes and blend again until the mixture is thick and creamy.
5. Pour the smoothie into a glass and enjoy!

 

The great thing about smoothies is they are a delicious and convenient way to get a healthy dose of fruits and or vegetables into your diet.

This one is quick to make and easy to digest. Bananas are in season almost all year round which means that you can make this smoothie almost any-time.
